Frequently, patients are curious to learn about their different treatment options. Questions such as: “What is the difference between braces and Invisalign?” and “What kind of braces do you offer?” are two of the most common questions we receive at Orthodontic Harmony. Luckily, you can usually achieve the same result with braces or Invisalign®, so the choice is yours. Here’s an overview of braces and Invisalign®:
Metal braces: These are the braces that you commonly see sporting colors. We use low profile brackets that are small, strong and comfortable. Our patients love choosing from our multitude of colorful “o-rings” that help tie the wire into the bracket at each appointment. You can change the colors at every appointment.
Ceramic / clear braces: These are a type of porcelain esthetic bracket that look stunning because they blend in beautifully with the dentition. These barely show up in photos.
Advantages of Braces: The braces are fixed to your teeth, so you don’t have to worry about “wearing” them or “losing” them. Having the chance to change the colors every month is fun for patients.
Invisalign®: This type of treatment consists of a series of aligners that are worn sequentially for 1 – 2 weeks each to gradually align your teeth. These are virtually invisible and and patients enjoy the convenience of being able to eat without wearing their orthodontic appliances. We recommend that our patients wear their aligners for 22+ hours per day for the best results.
Advantages of Invisalign®: Clear aligners are convenient because they are nearly invisible and can be removed for meals and drinks. Overall, patients find treatment with clear aligners to be extremely comfortable.
Retainers: Retainers are worn after orthodontic treatment is completed. These will help to maintain your beautiful result.
